Music Careers Day – Southport 2023
On 26th January over 100 students from high schools in Sefton attended our ‘Music Careers Day’ in Southport.
This is one of six music careers day events for each of the six boroughs of the city region. They have been organised by the Merseyside Music Education Hub Alliance and Sound City Satellite, and funded by the Liverpool City Region Music Board, using investment from the Strategic Innovation Fund (SIF).
These events for young people align with one of our key objectives; to develop skills and talent to strengthen the local music ecosystem.
The Southport event was attended by students from a mixture of Sefton high schools:St Michaels Church of England, Greenbank, Birkdale, Deyes, Formby and Range High School.
The event’s speakers included Kojo Osei (BIMM), Gary Cook, (Sound City, COLC), Melanie Williams (Uni of Liverpool), Kate Blackstone (YCA Trust), Shell Zenner (Amazing Radio/XS Manchester), Hits Radio Producer Em Roberts and rising artist Pixey.
They also took part in a DJing workshop provided by DJ Tash Evans (Queensway) and about music PR provided by Alex Sutton (Gala PR) and enjoyed an acoustic performance from Pixey.
