The North West Duke Ellington Orchestra

The North West Duke Ellington Orchestra, conducted by Phil Shotton was formed in late 2023. We are based in Liverpool, but our players come from across the North West, including Liverpool, Sefton, Knowsley, Runcorn, Chester, Macclesfield and Manchester
This spring (2025) we played World Jazz Day at the Capstone Theatre, then headlined the Saturday night Freestage at Cheltenham Jazz Festival, playing transcriptions of Duke Ellington recordings from the Lincoln Centre’s ‘Essential Ellington’ programme.
